How Web3/AI Can Help Our Missions Work

While some evangelicals are skeptical of emerging technologies, I see it differently. As a mission pastor, I see the great potential of this new wave of tech to help us reach people with little to no access to the gospel.

Technology has made connecting with people worldwide easier than ever. With the rise of Web3 and AI, there is now even more ability to reach people with the gospel in unreached people groups who have little to no access to the gospel in their home country.

I believe there are three primary ways these technologies can help spread the gospel to those without access to it.

Translation

One of the most significant barriers to spreading the gospel overseas is language. While there are countless languages spoken around the world, not all of them have translations of the Bible readily available. This is where Web3 and AI can assist. With the help of machine learning algorithms, it is possible to translate the Bible into a wide variety of languages automatically. This would allow people in countries where Christianity is not widely practiced to access the gospel’s message in a language they can understand. Additionally, AI-powered translation tools can translate online sermons, bible studies, apologetic material, and other resources into multiple languages, making it easier for people worldwide to explore Christianity freely.

VR Private Conversations

Virtual reality (VR) technology has come a long way in recent years, and it now has the potential to revolutionize the way we spread the gospel. With VR, it is possible to create immersive experiences that allow people to feel as if they are having face-to-face conversations with missionaries and pastors worldwide. This can be particularly powerful in countries where Christians are persecuted, as it allows people to converse with others who share their faith without putting themselves in danger. Discipleship can occur with the disciples living thousands of miles from the person teaching. Can you imagine conversing with a person in an underground church who does not speak your language, allowing the A.I. to translate for you as you talk? This can be groundbreaking for the underserved or the persecuted church.

VR Worship Service Experience

Additionally, VR technology can create virtual church services, allowing Christians to worship together in a safe, virtual environment. Unfortunately, many countries still persecute Christians for their faith. Sometimes, it may be unsafe for Christians to gather publicly or even worship at home. However, with the help of Web3 and AI, it is possible to create safe, private online communities where Christians can worship together without fear of persecution. These communities can be created using blockchain technology, ensuring the community is secure and confidential. Additionally, AI-powered chatbots can facilitate online discussions and prayer groups, providing a safe and supportive space for Christians to connect.

In conclusion, Web3 and AI can play a significant role in spreading the message of Christianity overseas. By leveraging these technologies, it is possible to overcome language barriers, create immersive VR experiences, and provide safe spaces for Christians to worship in countries where persecution is a reality. While there are challenges to overcome, the possibilities are inspiring, and we look forward to seeing how these technologies continue to shape the future of global evangelism.
